To begin, the book Fallen Angels was a masterpiece by my favorite author. Walter Dean Myers has made many great works of literature, and did not let down on this one . Going into this book ,I heard from peers of mine how it was “pretty good,” so my expectations going into this book weren’t that high. However, the hype for it was raised because of my background knowledge about the author. After reading this I can say with 100% certainty that this lived up to the hype and exceeded it. I didn’t think it could compare to one of his books like “Monster”, but I was pleasantly surprised that it did. The story elements make the characters likable, make the reader engaged, and really make the reader feel and really care about the characters. This is everything I wanted in a book, and more. It overshadowed his other war book “Sunrise over Fallujah” which was a great book. All in all, I thought this was a literary masterpiece and should be an example on how to approach controversial issues in historical fiction.

For my January Reading Challenge novel, I read To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. This classic tale of growing up and maturity was a very fun and relatively quick read. I thought that it had a great plot line, and all of the characters were very relatable and also very well developed. From what I have heard, a lot of people dislike this book, but I don't know where they are coming from. It is a little slow in the beginning, but it gets interesting quickly. The ending of the novel is very intriguing and it was impossible for me to put the book down. I think Lee did a great job with the fluency of the novel too. Every event was in a structured timeline with no sudden leaps through the timeline. I would recommend this novel to people who have a rich vocabulary and like slower novels. I would rate this book 9.5 out of 10 stars because although it was an amazing novel, you can always improve it. In conclusion, I thought this novel was absolutely amazing and that will resonate with you for the rest of your life.

As well as being a great work of fiction, this novel has received many awards from various places, and even has a sequel that is interesting as well.

For the January reading challenge, I read the book “Flawed” by Cecelia Ahern. This book takes place probably some time in the future, and is about a girl named Celestine, who is seen as nothing other than perfect, exactly what the Guild is looking for. The Guild is like the government, but instead of makeing people follow laws, it makes people flawless. If you make a mistake, for example, your caught lying, or stealing, your deemed as flawed, and they will show your flawed by searing an F on your skin. Celestine’s sister, Juniper, has always been against the Guild, doesn’t believe if what they do to harmless people. Celestine starts to thing about that, and one day, she can’t stop thinking about how the flawed are treated unfairly. She gets on a bus, and sees two unflawed lady’s sitting in flawed chairs, the only place a flawed can sit on the bus. A very ill elderly man gets on the bus, but he can’t,t sit anywhere, because he is flawed and perfect people are sitting in his spot. He starts to cough, and he can’t breath. Celestine couldn’t take it and had to help him. When someone is spotted aiding a flawed, then they are seen as flawed. So, the whistleblowers take her away.
